Baker Academy's optional summer school is somewhat like an academic camp. Children from other schools join some of our own for six weeks of reading, writing, and arithmetic, punctuated by choral singing for relaxation. Because the students are placed according to ability, rather than grade, well-performing third graders might be comfortably working alongside fifth graders who are in need of remedial instruction. Uniforms are not worn, and at the conclusion of summer school, the students present a musical program for their parents.
